Trip Places
Lots of photos and no easy way to show them all so I have grouped most of them below. Click on the picture, title or button for any area.
Twin Shores Provincial Park
A great place to camp
This was our favourite location (or at least mine for the trip. We basically stayed here most of three days were in the ocean for a swim multiple times each day.Too bad about the minor "Nor' Easter" that hit us on our last night and the monster skunk that ravaged the camp on our first night and the fact my tent bag blew away in the gale. Other than that it was great.
St Andrew By the Sea (& St George)
A very pretty town
I had been here years ago and was not disappointed on my return. While the "rubes" went whale watching, been there, done that, I wandered the streets and took way too many pictures of the old frame buildings on main street with their neat paint colours. It was also great to capture the difference that shows up in high versus low tide if you check the mud flats versus when the tide is in.
Nova Scotia - South East coast
Nothing wrong with this part of the country.
Lunenburg, Mahone Bay, Peggy's Cove . . . Things would definitely have been nicer without the constant rain but it was still worth the visit. Nice to see and be on the Bluenose II again as years ago I had the privilege of going on a sail on her out of Halifax. Would have loved to do it again.
PEI and Area
Montague, Charlottetown, Summerside and more.
Lots of leftover pics from some quick visits to or through a number of places. Stayed with Ross and June in Montague. Quick visits to both Charlottetown and Summerside, plus driving around and through areas like Sunset Beach. A lot of really nice beaches on the island with the iconic red sand.
Halifax - The Citadel
Always nice to have a quick tour.
Some of the folks had never seen the Citadel so it was fun to take them there - in the rain. Good reminder of how "people" have changed over the years. If I am considered tall now - I would have been a giant then.
Watched the obligatory mushet and cannon fire but for me this time, the highlight was wandering through the war museum and looking at the weaponry over time and actual medals including a Victoria Cross.
Leftovers
Mostly the ferry ride from Caribou NS to Wood Island PEI.
We got on with no booking and had a nice 70 minute crossing. With the wind on a nice summer day I Can't imagine what winter would be like.Included shots of the Confereration Bridge that we used to "exit" the province - and pay to get out. It was closed in the morning when we wanted to leave due to the wind and accidents from the Nor' Easter the hight before.
